Hawick Street, Yoker

MAST architects/Sanctuary Housing Association

Hawick Street is a residential development over four flatted buildings, set within a verdant landscape, delivering high quality affordable homes.

The aim was to create a hierarchy of high quality semi-private open spaces, that benefit users and wildlife alike, which are accessible to all.

The regeneration of a former brown field site includes the retention and management of existing street trees adjacent to Glasgow Road, and two semi-private residential courtyards.

Plant selection includes flowering and fruiting trees and specimen shrubs, set amongst floriferous herbaceous perennial planting and evergreen shrubs to form defensible space to ground floor dwellings.

Species rich Meadow grassland and Flowering Lawns together with mixed native species hedge lines to the boundaries provides further bio-diversity and habitat creation within the landscaping.
