Kinnear Road, Edinburgh

Richard Murphy Architects, AMA Homes

MBLA prepared landscape proposals for a new residential development in Edinburgh designed by Richard Murphy Architects for AMA Homes.

The proposals included a Corten steel terrace planted up with dwarf pines, junipers and ornamental grasses to reference the Edinburgh skyline which includes Arthur's Seat and Sailsbury Crags.

The planting within the front gardens comprises single stem and multi-stem forms of birch trees underplanted with ground covering herbaceous plants and ferns to evoke the impression of a woodland.

The planting of the front gardens was complicated due to the shallow depth of topsoil as they are located on a concrete slab to the roof of a basement car park.
